Trigger links: know exactly who clicked what
Wrap important links so a click becomes a trackable event that fires automation: interest detection, hot-lead routing, and honest campaign math.
- 1
Create links deliberately
Marketing, then Trigger Links. One link per meaningful destination (pricing page, booking page, case study), named with a convention: tl-pricing, tl-booking-main.
- 2
Use them in messages
Insert the trigger link in SMS and email instead of the raw URL. GHL tracks the click per contact. Note for SMS: links shorten through the platform; never layer a second shortener on top.
- 3
Fire automation on clicks
Workflow trigger: Trigger Link Clicked. A pricing click can add score, tag interest-pricing, and task the rep. A booking-link click with no booking after 24 hours earns a gentle nudge.
- 4
Read clicks as intent
Click data lives on the contact timeline. Clicked three times and never replied? That contact is interested but stuck; a human should call.
- 5
Keep the registry clean
Reuse the same trigger link for the same destination across campaigns so history accumulates; a pile of duplicate links makes data mush.
Do it with Claude
Ask Claude who clicked the pricing link this week but has no appointment booked; through the MCP it cross-references clicks with calendar events and hands you the call list.
Watch out for
- Raw URLs in messages, so intent data never exists.
- A new link per send for the same page, scattering history.
