Lead scoring: let hot leads raise their hand
Score behavior so the hottest leads surface automatically, and your team spends its energy where the money already is.
- 1
Pick five signals that matter
Score what predicts buying in YOUR business: replied to a message, clicked a pricing link, visited the booking page, submitted a form, opened three emails in a week. Skip vanity signals.
- 2
Weight them honestly
A reply is worth more than an open. Example: reply +15, booking page click +10, form +10, email open +2, no activity 14 days -10.
- 3
Implement with workflows
Use GHL’s scoring (Settings, then Scoring where available) or workflow-managed score fields: each trigger adjusts the value. Keep the rules in one documented place.
- 4
Define the threshold action
Crossing the hot line should DO something: tag hot-lead, alert the assigned rep, create a call task. Use the Hot Lead Alert prompt in the library for the full build.
- 5
Calibrate monthly
Look at last month’s closed deals: did they score high before closing? If cold deals closed and hot ones stalled, reweight the signals.
Do it with Claude
Ask Claude to backtest: pull won deals through the MCP and check what behaviors they shared before closing. That evidence beats guessing at weights.
Watch out for
- Twenty micro-signals nobody can reason about; five good ones win.
- A score that rises forever with no decay, so ancient leads look hot.
